I had to get my new comics a day late this week. I haven’t gotten a chance to read them yet, but this is what I got.
New comics Wednesday! Here are my additions this week, with 2 that I missed last Wednesday. I’ve read all of them except the Orchid issue, which I only grabbed because 1. It was only $1.00, and 2. It’s written by Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. However, everything else has been top-notch. The #2 issues of DC’s New 52 books have all been fantastic, building upon what was established in the #1’s. I hope this trend continues!
I got two weeks’ of comics today since I couldn’t pick up my pull last Wednesday, and today was the first day I could get this week’s. This wasn’t even everything, but Tumblr only lets you upload 10 at a time. So there was more.
I forgot to throw these up last week, and it’ll be new comics Wednesday when I wake up. So I wanted to updated with the past 2 weeks’ worth since I’d fallen behind.
Day Four: Least favourite actor in a Batman film?
Okay, let’s all be honest: some of the Batman movies have had some pretty damn terrible cast members. That doesn’t mean that they were necessarily bad actors. I know George Clooney is great in some roles, but as Batman, he just didn’t work. The same can be said for a lot of the actors and actresses that have made their way into the Batman film legacy.
But there’s one that was the worst of the worst, the most terrible of them all. He was cast seemingly for pure recognition, to get people in the seats regardless of his talent. The production team wanted to sell toys, and they knew they could do it with this person’s likeness attached. The writing was poor, filled with terrible, horrible one-liners, each of which was a pun that related to the character’s M.O. I don’t even need to elaborate further, as I’m sure anyone who has seen the dreadful Batman and Robinknows exactly who I mean.
What I really hated about the whole movie in general is, Mr. Freeze is such a cool villain with a lot of potential. Check out the animated series episode Heart of Iceand you’ll agree. Anyway, Arnold Schwarzenegger wins the title of Worse Actor in a Batman Movie.
My PC is currently out of commission, so any posts must be done from my phone; the app does not allow for photosets unfortunately.
Anyway, I had to get two weeks’ worth of comics the last time I went to the shop. Here they are in alphabetical order:
Batgirl #9
Batman #9
Batman and Robin #9
Daredevil #12
Deadpool #54
Green Lantern #9
Green Lantern Corps. #9
Justice League #9
Nightwing #9
Punisher #11
Red Hood and the Outlaws #9
Saga #3
Wonder Woman #9
I enjoyed all of them. The Night of the Owls crossover is working remarkably well, with each tie-in working to supplement the overall narrative in Batman. Scott Snyder really has come up with a fascinating and enjoyable story, and the other authors’ work with it has been great as well.
The stand out issue for me this week is Green Lantern Corps. The story in that book has been focusing on Guy Gardner and John Stewart—my favorite of the Earth Green Lanterns. John’s been going through some heavy stuff ever since, well, as far back as I can remember; but now his actions and hard decisions are coming back to haunt him in an interesting way. What I really liked about this issue was the art, specifically John’s facial expressions, which manage to convey emotion and communicate to the reader exactly what needs to be said with or without the text. It’s a great read, especially if you’re a fan of the main Green Lantern title.
Oh, and if you want to read something that isn’t a superhero comic, Saga is a great, great new book. It reminds me do much of a Final Fantasy game. It introduces you to a new world, new people, and everything that comes with it. It’s wonderful—simply wonderful.
“Father,
I’m sure you’ll be angry with me for disobeying your again, but I don’t care, I will not let you fight Leviathan alone. You need me and I will always be at your side.
Because it will be hard for me to these words face to face, I want you to know that mother may have given me life, but you taught me how to live.
Love and respect,
Your son
Damian”
I choked up when I read this. I’m not even kidding.
There’s no stoppin’ the cretins from hoppin’
I got this for $2. Yes.
