I have often fantasized about how exciting it must have been to be a fan of comics when Watchmen was first released. I was a year old by the time the final issue hit stands, so, needless to say, I missed it.
But now I get to experience that excitement.
I have mixed feelings about the project, but I’m staying hopeful.

The artwork they showed at this was so damned cool. I can’t wait for this to come out.
Haters gonna hate.
Each week, some friends and I get together and discuss comics and related material. We decided we’d record it this time, so we did. We talk pretty in-depth each time, so if you’re into long talks about geeky things, you might dig it.
This week, we talked about Punk Rock Jesus, Uncanny X-Force, 100 Bullets, Aquaman, Thief of Thieves, The Dark Knight Rises, and Before Watchmen. Click the link above and download to give us a listen!
This time around, Joel #1 discusses Mark Waid’s DAREDEVIL, Joel #2 talks about a Kevin Smith podcast everyone should hear, Matt (Spudz) gives some insight into the Batman stories that influenced Christopher Nolan’s DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY, I go a bit more into detail about Image Comics’ SAGA, and James talks all about BEFORE WATCHMEN: THE COMEDIAN. All that, plus a few extras. Lemme know if you listened!

As always, we also discuss Before Watchmen, focusing on Nite Owl, as well as some pretty intense conversation about Watchmen and the state of the world. Download and listen here:
Last week’s comics discussion/podcast was taken from Coffee Cartel in the Central West End with Patches joining to discuss his take on the New 52. Amy helped us understand a bit more about LOCKE & KEY, Joel B. showed us all Darwyn Cooke’s PARKER series, and Joel C. and I talked about the recurring themes in Geoff Johns’ ongoing GREEN LANTERN run. We also talked about BEFORE WATCHMEN: THE MINUTEMEN #3! Download above and listen! Then sound off with any feedback.
This week’s NerdNight discussion is available for download. This time around, we all talked about the best and worst of the first year of DC Comics NEW 52, then transition into a long talk about the importance of GREEN LANTERN #0. I give my take on DETECTIVE COMICS #0, and Amy welcomes us into the world of FAIREST. Then, the Joels (Joel Castleberry and Joel Samson Berntsen) do a little one-on-one review of HAWKEYE #2. We round out the night with our usual discussion of BEFORE WATCHMEN, this time focusing on SILK SPECTRE #3. Enjoy!
